SIX SIGMA Glossary: Throughput

In a Lean Production System the Throughput is the amount of work that passes through the system in a given time. In the Theory of Constraints the throughput is constrained by the bottleneck process.

Associated terms are Cycle Time, Takt Time, Touch Time, Work in in Progress and Work in Queue.
