SIX SIGMA Glossary: Defects Per Unit (DPU)

DPU is a metric used in Six Sigma projects, it stands for 'Defects Per Unit'. It is the average number of defects per unit based on processing a number of units. Suppose you observe 100 units being made. Five fail, four are reworked, and one is scrapped. The DPU is 0.05.
