Select the range on the worksheet. The left column (‘D’) will be the ‘X’ values and the right column (‘E’) will be the ‘Y’ values (we’ll use the data in Column F later):

Now either select the chart icon on the toolbar or use Insert-Chart from the main menu:

This will take you to the Chart Wizard. You can select various Chart Types and Chart Sub-Types. The ones shown as selected are suitable for this graph. You can change the chart type any time; even after you have created the chart:

 

 

Press Next to get to the next step (roll your mouse over the image to see what happens)

 

Note in passing that there are various tabs on top, these lead you to other options. For now don’t change anything.


Press ‘Next’ again (roll your mouse over the image to see what happens).

 

Make sure that you are creating the chart ‘As Object In’ the sheet, rather than as a new sheet.

Now select 'Finish' to create the chart:
