:: Paste Special Syllabus    PreviousNext

The ‘Paste Special’ option is worth knowing about. You use it instead of 'Paste'. After you have copied a range you can either ‘right-click' the mouse to get the submenu or use 'Edit' on the main Menu bar.

One option that is occasionally handy is the 'values' option. This replaces a formula with its numerical value (if you don't understand what I mean, try it!).

Paste Link (bottom right) is particularly useful for copying links between sheets:
  • Select the range you want to copy
  • Go to a different sheet and ‘Paste Special’ ‘Paste Link’
Now if you change the original data (in Cell 'C3' on Sheet 1) the value on this sheet will update automatically.
