Margaret: I setup my koala
and New Zealand sheep mascots for a focusing
experiment. I took 3 photos. This one is on Auto
without moving camera.

COMMENTS
Margaret: Back on Auto, this
time I moved the camera to put mascots in the
center, half-pressed the button to lock in the
focus and then moved the camera to the same shooting
frame.
Q. Anyone knows
how to restore eyesight back to its glory?
Can I find elixir of youth (red wine is good
but the picture is still blurred) ?! :-) And
seriously - am I giving up too soon on manual
focusing?

COMMENTS
Margaret: A bird flew into our
shed and could not find the way out. I opened
all doors and windows but it took some time before
it flew away. In the meantime I took this as
a photo opportunity and discovered that it was
too dark for the auto focus to work.

COMMENTS
Margaret: I used manual focusing
but the bird moved around. I regretted I did
not have my dolphin torch. I finally managed
to get some focus.
Q. How
do you shoot in the dark if you cannot see what
you are shooting?

COMMENTS
Margaret: I love "sweet" light.
It happens rarely and I found out a sunrise giving
better photo opportunities than a sunset. This
photo was taken against rising sun. It lasted
almost an hour and there was great light everywhere.
Q. Only
when I checked the settings for this photo I
noticed White Balance in Fluorescent. Would it
have altered the natural light?
AL: You bet it would have made
a difference. Wonder if you happened to shoot
raw so you could change that white balance to
natural in PS to see how it looks. I agree with
you about the time. This past summer I always
had the best sweet light very early in the mornings,
around 4 to 5:30 am. |

COMMENTS
Margaret: I really like
the light in this photo. The sky and the
water look very nice.
Q. Again, was White Balance a contributor?
AL: Oh, I see you subsequent
shots are "fluorescent" also. My favorite
here is the very last shot. Your fluorescent
produces difference effects than my Pentax. I
don't mind the colors in your images at all.
If I had taken these in fluorescent they would
be toss outs unless you like weirdo colors.
The early morning sunrise on my home page at:
http://photography-classes-online.com/
(thumbnail), is an example of the sweet light
you had that morning.
That is an image taken from raw, no adjustments
except to reduce size.
I notice you are using a -1 exposure compensation
factor. On the inside shots. Wonder why you did
not use that on the outside sunrise images. Try
this sometime, and also try the shade setting
at the same time on a sunset or sunrise and see
how that works with your cameral. |
